Science Notebooking 101 – The Basics.
The Science Notebooks 101 workshop is designed as an introduction to the use of
science notebooks in the elementary and middle school classroom. Science
notebooks are a strong component of inquiry based science programs, but the advantages
of using notebooks for both science concepts and literacy skills lends its use to all
science curricula.
In this workshop teachers will discover:
- The purpose of science notebooks
- The research behind science notebooks
- How to start with science notebooks
- How to rate a student's progress in science concepts
- How to use science notebooks with a basal science program
- How and why science notebooks can improve both literacy and science scores
Suggested books, websites and additional resources will be discussed to be used as a
follow up to the Science Notebooks 101 workshop.
